Well, we started on the kitchen & it is no wonder kitchen remodels are so expensive. It has been a lot of hard work. We had to remove counters, an old stove, old sink and old nasty flooring under the dishwasher. Roy and Ray mainly did this. Roy indicated that it "stunk" under the counter and near the stove as they removed it.
I had done a significant amount of cleaning before anything was removed so the condition of the kitchen was very bad. The cupboard doors and drawers were removed for cleaning, repair and priming. They were actually in much worse shape than we thought. A lot of filling, and sanding were necessary just to be able to apply the primer. After the primer the paint. Then we had to pick out new handles & hardware because rust & years of wear had taken their toll.
In the theme of, nothing about this has been easy, we realized the size of the handles and other hardware was different than what was there before, so new wholes needed to be drilled. As it turns out this is not an easy task.
It also turns out that it looks a lot better if you paint inside of the cupboards (Roger suggested this and he was correct). I am still not done with that task, although it is coming close to being done. The hinges also need to be put on...
Here are some pictures of the project.
More to come...
