Since Roy last wrote, we have had the drywall guy come & go. Repairs were done & then cleaning & painting & more painting was in order. I have done most of the painting of the walls & Roy has done most of the painting of the ceilings.
The first step in painting the walls was picking out the color. With some in put from Roy, a color was picked. This was done after many chips of colors were put up, near the frame to the door of the room, and looked at in daylight & then night light.
A fresh coat of paint gave a nice refreshing ambiance to the room.

The grayish white color that was picked turned out great over the old gold color. I decided to leave it to one coat of paint and allow a soft glow to affect the look.
In April, I realized I had not been to the barn in a long time. When I finally got to the barn, I noticed that the cobwebs were so thick that I did not know how anyone was walking through & not being stopped by the dusty eerie mess. I decided to do something about the problem. I started out with a mop (yes, a mop that usually mops the floor!).
I moped the walls of the barn & then attached another stick to it and got as high as I could. I then decided to get a squirt gun (OK. I know this was silly) to rinse. Needless to say this did not work & in the time being, Roger, called his Dad & informed him that he thought I had lost my mind & was very concerned.
Well, I was not going to allow a set back, like the squirt gun, to reach my goal of cleaning the barn of all the years of cobwebs,so I hooked up a bunch of hoses and low & behold you can see the difference. Everyone was quite impressed at the results (including Roger...and believe me that is saying something)!...
Back inside the house, after some barn cleaning, not everything was painted, but it was never-the-less rejuvenated. I found out you can clean paneling with laundry detergent and water and it does a very good job. Then if you want to spruce it up, use stain. That is what I decided to use and I took this picture to show a before and after shot of the paneling. The left side of the picture is the start of the staining and the right would look just like the left at the finish.
Well, I just want to wrap up by saying we have been busy...Other projects & pictures in following post include:
*Roger's landscaping of the front area of the house and some of the side of the house....
*Roy & I replaced some electrical outlets.
*Doors have been cleaned and repainted....
All for now, Gloria (guest writer/blogger)....
