Started looking for some pictures of all the work that has been done but apparently between not taking very many and my phone's lousy camera app I don't seem to have much to show.
A quick recap on some activities. Gloria picked out a trim color for the Master Bedroom and began painting some of the trim. It looks good and I will need to find a picture.
Next step after the floor went in was to add quarter round moldings around the perimeter of the room. We worked for a couple of evenings on that. At first it went well but as we got to some of the areas we began to find places where we had too large of a gap between the end of the flooring and the wall. I think if I had it to do over I would have tried for a 1/4" gap rather than the 3/8" gap. The quarter round is 1/2" so there is only 1/8" to play with. So we hit pause on that activity. Other than buying some wider moldings I am afraid we never got back to that one, typical.
About a month ago we made the decision to find someone to help with the drywall. This took a while to find and about 3 weeks to schedule. This gave us a deadline and a few areas to focus on. We had to empty the TV room so that they could tear down the old ceiling. Of course even though I have looked at that ceiling a million times over the years do you suppose I bothered to take even one picture of it? Of course not.
The other area that needed finishing was the play room wall. It has pretty much just been the same since last fall. We did rewire it and hooked up a couple of electrical outlets but had not finished the wiring.
In order to be ready for the drywall we needed to get the wiring completed. Gloria and I spent most of a weekend adding and external outlet with GFI and an LED flood light. It was slow going cutting through the sheathing and siding and trying to make everything look neat. Yes I said siding. Once we finally got a few days where it wasn't freezing cold and raining we managed to put siding on the new wall. I did get a few pictures of this:
Ray was able to help me get started on the siding job when he was home for a weekend. After that Gloria stepped in and became chief helper. The job was pretty time consuming. I used actual cedar siding which is what was on the house originally. Actually it still is on the house, it is just covered with ugly worn out aluminum siding. That will be a problem for a different day. At any rate the first three rows of siding were great as it was just a matter of grabbing a piece of siding, position it and nail in place. Some cutting for the end pieces but that was about it. After that it slowed down a lot as every piece had to be cut and in some cases have cutouts for windows as well. All in all we are happy with the result. As noted above there is still a little bit more to do across the top. And of course the matter of the second chunk of bad wall that I fixed which is to the dinette area.
We couldn't spend any more time on siding because we needed to get the electrical work done and the insulation installed inside. Again no work in progress pictures on the insulation but I will try to get a shot of the final product. Like everything else on the wall job it was an undertaking. The insulation comes in rolls made to fit between the studs on 16" centers. Unfortunately this wall has so many windows and a door which means that there were on only about three sections that could be just installed and they were only 21" tall! All of the rest had to be trimmed to fit. By the end of it Gloria has gotten pretty good with a stapler!
As I write this the drywall man has been on site one day. I will try to get more pictures and some updates on all of the drywall repairs soon.

SO happy to read this... I always love reading these, as does Berta! She wants to know if we can come see the place at some point? Anyway, wow, you have done some great work!!
